Microsoft Outlook Inbox Repair Tool

The following article describes how to use the inbox repair tool. It can find and repair errors in your Outlook data file and can often solve difficulties you might be having with Outlook.





You can find the repair tool in C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Office/Office15.

In the search bar located in the uppper right hand side of the window enter scanpst to locate SCANPST.EXE and double click it.

The scanPST tool will usually locate your Outlook data file automatically, verify that the correct path is entered. If necessary click on the Browse button and locate it manually.

Click Start to begin scanning.
Note: ScanPST can take a long time to complete depending on the size of your Outlook data file, be patient.

Once complete, the repair tool will state if errors have been found, of so click Repair. You have the option of backing up your Outlook data file, if you leave the box checked it will take longer and possibly slow down your machine.
Note: This can also take a long time to complete and the repair tool will often say "Not Responding," be patient, the tool is working.

Once the repair tool is finished you will see a notification that it has completed, click OK.
